So today, I found this picture, colored the hair grey in my vision ( I like it grey with my blue eyes ) and what with the fuzzy pic and loose dress I can envision " seeing" myself in this girl. When I first went through my pictures I passed it up to go with one where I weigh about 130 and my hair is long like now saying to myself " Yeah- Ginger that would be a miracle!" OK! Why is something we believe can't happen a "Miracle"? When did the word start meaning 'impossible'? Well, in my life I've had an abundance of Miracles -really huge ones, life saving ones- so why not the Miracle Me? I just put this on my desktop and did a visualization of me & hubby hiking another mountain, me playing ball with my grandkids, me working in shorts in my garden in the summer. I can feel the heat, sweat pouring, making my way from front, up to the top of the hill, Penny beside me, spraying my roses- seeing the mail come and with no thought walking back down to pick it up, drop it at the house & head back up the hill. A scenario I use to take for granted, Never again.
So that's a long story to start to tell you what I've learned about using visualization as a weight loss tool. Think you can't visualize? I bet you already have. It's just holding a picture in your mind. Haven't you ever visualized how you might look in a dress in a magazine, or dreamed up every detail of your wedding when you were young? How about made a mental picture of where you parked your car at Wal-Mart, where your child's classroom is- I bet you can close your eyes and mentally " drive" yourself home.
So visualize your best self. You need to believe it. If I'd "seen" myself wrinkle free- hadn't allowed for saggy skin under that dress- I couldn't believe I could be the girl in the white dress. When you visualize do so with as much detail as possible- the way you feel physically and emotionally, the scent, the sound, movement.
Now do this 10 minutes a day for at least 30 days. It takes at least 30 days to ingrain a new habit. My goal is to post the miracle me in a white dress on my 65th Bday and be very happy with that picture like I am with this one.
