The above quote is from Jon Gabriel in the new documentary "The Abundance code." I highly recommend this movie, but hurry if you want to watch it for free. You can see it without charge now thru June 30th'16. at
( http://theabundancecode.com/launch-screening/) Now that I feel so much healthier in my core emotional life I'm looking at the signs around me and seeing that my next issue is my sense of abundance. This film is one of the step of healing around that sense of abundance and all my "money" issues. So many feelings there that I have eaten over.
When I heard " Being able to be uncomfortable and being able to be uncertain without filling that up, without buying something, eating something....we all have our ways of filling that space up , being able to be spacious around uncertainty....all I can tell you it is a practice, it is a skill that can be learned with practice... you get better with practice."
I went back to the beginning of the film with notebook in hand and wrote down everything-quote that I wanted to remember and go back over or make my quote pics with . I think the easiest way to share what I like about it is to just share all these quotes- also I'd like a place I can go back to them. I'll begin with those straight from the film itself and end with those that were other peoples quotes the film used that really stuck a chord with me. That way-even if you don't get to see the film you can still get something from this blog. Of course there are offers to buy stuff at end of film or bottom of page-but having no spare cash at this point I can't comment on that.
So here goes:
" The only real power we have is the power of choice."- ( what I choose to think and feel)
" It is about believing in yourself, which is a skill and can be learned."
" Just focus on the 1% improvement everyday." ( very in line with Melinda Jacob's talk about celebrating even our tiny accomplishments.)
" The past is an advisor not a determinant."
" What is it that will bring me the most joy and happiness in my life?" ( this question really brought up a lot for me when I wrote it out- you know what? It had nothing to do with being thin, or where I live.- sit down and write out this answer for yourself.)
" What will it mean for me to be happy and successful?"
" What broke the pattern for me was seeing the pattern." ( wow! a biggy for me I'm looking into now.)
" Do the work to support your family and then go home and spend 2 hours with your passion." ( at last somebody on these type films gets that supporting your family comes first as you pursue your passion! Not everybody has the saved money to pick up and move across the globe pursing their dream.)
" ...for many people distractions are controlling them... distraction is an easy thing to do but not a wise thing to do." ( I have to admit that eating has been a distraction from thinking about and facing things I just didn't want to- I had never thought about it that way before- indeed I can think of many things I've used that way-more for me to look into here.)
" when you live abundantly you inspire others to live abundantly."
" Fear rules us when we are in scarcity."
" Anytime a person is not living authentically according to what is truly most meaningful, importance and value and inspiring in their lives the unfulfilledment makes them seek immediate gratification to compensate."
" I want to share what I know." (me too.)
" Power is an internal space of being."
" Be flexible about what the path is going to be." ( a real chord struck here as well.)
"Instead of this scary uncertainty there is this open uncertainty."
" The beauty of a comfort zone is that as you expand it, it never goes back to it's original size."
" Every hour of time I waste is an hour I can't get back....what could I be doing with that hour right now?" ( at 65 this one haunts me-I never want to waste my hours zoning out again.)
" It's not really a dark night of the soul...it's a dark night of the ego."
" And in our culture we are very good about showing the wins we are not so good about showing the messy stuff. But the messy stuff is where it really happens-that's where you really get the breakthroughs , that's where you really get the insights, is in all the messy complicated parts."
" It's a journey and I think you should enjoy the whole journey and not try to leap frog to place. Go ahead and let the whole journey be what it is."
So the last half of my post didn't show up I see. Maybe this time. Here are the famous quotes that tied the film together:
" being at ease with not knowing is crucial for answers to come to you." ~ Eckhart Tolle
" Your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life." ~ Steve Jobs
" Until You make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it fate." ~ Carl Jung
" You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." ~ Martin Luther King
" remember... sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck." ~ The Dali Lama
