I'm not going to rewrite this book for you, but I am going to talk about my experience with clutter clearing. I became a Feng Shui practioner 14 years ago and that is when I learned about space clearing. Before you " space clear" you need to first clean the space and at least clear obvious out in the open clutter with the goal of little by little clearing out the "inside" (like drawers, closets) as you are able to.
I had just the year before moved into a new house I designed myself. Fate helped me out by loosing several large boxes when we moved. This included about half my kitchen ware and the sterling wedding silver gifts from decades before. I missed it less than a week. I only remember 2 items that were in those boxes. And both had to do with my Mom. Everything else had a place waiting for it.
That was 14 years and another 60+ pounds ago. I did a good job of releasing my own stuff but my kids stuff ? That they keep leaving with me-or ask me to keep my stuff for them to have when they have own homes? Getting my hubby to let go of clothes ? That's a whole other kettle of fish.
OK-Finally I got their stuff out. Guess what? Katrina Happened and my daughter and family moved in. And ever sense it's been a revolving door of returning grown kids and their stuff. They leave-half their stuff stays. Until I decided to go on The Red Color Diet last month. Now the last time I lost weight was a few years ago right after I told 2 of my kids that had turned their old rooms into dumps that "You get it or my friends charity garage sale gets it." I made the room into my "private" space and proceeded to loose 72 pounds. That is when I had purchased this book.
Then I had a medical "event" that bed bound me for 2 years and now has me only able to stand for a few minutes at a time. So the clutter slowly came back along with the weight.
Yesterday, I remembered this book about weight and clutter and decided to slowly do more. I spent the day clearing and cleaning my desk and a cabinet out. I've let the family know- hands off my cabinet. I stocked it with my new Gluten free -sugar free cooking supplies. Every thing that doesn't have to be refrigerated is there . Now I feel less stress-less likely to sweet eat. It will be so much easier to cook those gluten free meals when everything I need will be in one place. In fact I think I'll do the same with my fridge this weekend.
My goal is to clear out all my "insides" before the holidays. I hope the red infusion will give me the energy for this. It took me all day yesterday to do it and I was exhausted today. But with a smile on my face. And you know what? I didn't eat as much today.
