I know you are used to coming here on the 9th to see how my weight loss is going. This was the first month of my new year. I think I may always consider Sept. as the beginning of my personal year. My "how am I doing?" year. September was thrilling with the 140 pounds loss and very hard on all levels with my illness. I'm finally well this past week and have been very busy. I'll talk about the fun I've been having in my next post or so.
Because of something written about not using scales to determine where I'm at in The Gabriel Support group- and with all the fluctuations water weight wise-muscle wise with my illness & getting healthy again I gave up my scale. Then I remembered how last year I didn't weigh in Thanksgiving thru New Years and how I actually lost more weight, quicker then than at any other time. The Gabriel method is all about getting healthy and as a result the weight falls off. I've decided that I'm taking my 140pd loss, being happy with it and not pulling out those pretty new scales till January 9th.
I've just finished Christiane Northup M.D.'s " Goddesses Never Age: A prescription for Radiance, Vitality , and Well Being." and am on day 5 of her 14 day plan. When I'm thru I'll review her book and plan at the end of the book. You wonder why I consider it a weight loss book? Because of chapter 8:Goddesses Savor the Pleasure Of Food." A whole lot of info that is in Jon's book and Jena's as well is also here-just from a female M.D. perspective.
I also just finished chapter nine (of course!) of Jenna La Flamme's "Pleasurable Weight Loss." Wouldn't you just know that chapter Nine is " Pleasurable Eating." my motto from day one and also a motto of Jon Gabriel. In this chapter she shares the practice called "eating to the Point of Energy" from Marc David's ' The Slow Down Diet'. That's next on my reading list. Anyway I'm going to start that eating practice with my next meal. At that point Jenna says I'm now ready to bring together all her practices into play at my meals. I've now learned to check in with my animal (my inner me whom I call Kitten), Enhance my eating environment, Relax before I eat, Smell my food, seek pleasure in every bite, master the art of chewing, eat slowly & sensually, and to breathe properly while I eat. Time to put it all together as I go on reading reading her book.
I believe that incorporating all these suggestions from these books over the holidays is more than enough to keep me moving forward over the holidays. Thanks Fairies for having me read to just this perfect points in these books for my 2015 holidays. Check them out, I will be recommending both of them.
